Playful Pedagogy

We invite faculty to explore purposeful play through in-person and online interactive workshops that apply creative writing, oral storytelling, movement, and other arts-based activities to any and all pedagogical challenges and opportunities. Creative practices can communicate concepts, deepen intellectual inquiry, aid connection and collaboration, assess understanding, frame feedback, encourage risk-taking and help navigate sensitive topics. Dr. Nan Mullenneaux, Ph.D., (Former Duke Writing and History Professor, Acting Teacher, Director and Creativity Coach) combines her arts and academic expertise as she repurposes exercises borrowed from improvisation, creative writing, art, movement and music to address any aspect of your teaching, across the disciplines. No arts background or talent is needed to participate, just curiosity and an open mind. Please Register under our Events or contact Nan directly at Nan.mullenneaux@duke.edu to register or for more information.
