| My project addresses the challenge of making advanced language learning more engaging and meaningful by connecting students’ study of traditional Chinese culture with creative expression and public engagement. Often, language courses focus heavily on written or oral assessments, but students need more opportunities to apply their skills in authentic, culturally rich contexts. This innovation aims to bridge that gap. |
| My project builds on The Documentary in the Classroom Program, which I have developed over the past five years to help students translate liberal arts concepts into compelling visual stories. During the fellowship, I will formalize the program to test its scalability as a curriculum across courses and to better understand its possibilities and limitations. |
| My project is to develop class materials, including readings, assignments, and daily plans, for a new multidisciplinary Writing 120 course I’m planning about Barbie—that beloved childhood toy, emblem of girlhood, and cultural touchstone. This work will include considering public facing engagement with language, arts, and media, considering that Barbie is a public figure. | |
My project is to rework several units and class assignments within the Museum Theory & Practice concentration to infuse the student experience with tactile encounters, typically prohibited, in the museum. This would be paired with corresponding discussion around the role of touch in historical collections and its typical absence in contemporary institutions.

| My project examines the pedagogical potentials of the intersections between critical media literacy and critical language awareness. It seeks to understand how, in a world saturated by semiotic resources, fostering students' critical approaches to language in media texts can enhance civic and political engagement. | |
