Alex Morelli is an artist and filmmaker based in Durham, North Carolina. Drawing on personal, observational, and experimental practices, he makes films that explore intergenerational memory, collaborative storytelling, and the relationship between place and identity. His work has been supported by the LEF Foundation, the Puffin Foundation, the Flies Collective, and the Film Study Center at Harvard. In 2019 he was a Flaherty Film Seminar Fellow. He earned a BA in Art, Film, and Visual Studies from Harvard University and an MFA in Experimental and Documentary Arts from Duke University. When he’s not teaching or working as a cinematographer and editor, he enjoys organizing community screenings.
