Frequently Asked Questions
How do the Bacca and Playful Pedagogy Fellowships differ?
- The Bacca fellowship asks that applicants bring a specific project idea that they would like to develop into a classroom ready aspect of an undergraduate course. In contrast, the PPF allows applicants to bring a broader interest in innovative teaching without one specific project focus.
What do the fellowships have in common?
- Both fellowships require that applicants be Trinity faculty teaching an undergraduate course in the coming year. The fellowships also are founded on the idea of professional development and pedagogical innovation through community, peer support and feedback. Applicants should consider how interaction with faculty colleagues will enhance the development of their innovative ideas.
What if I am teaching abroad this year?
- If you will be teaching abroad for an entire semester, we ask that you wait to apply in a year where you can attend meetings in person.
Are these fellowships applicable to STEM disciplines?
- The primary mission of the Language, Arts, and Media Program is to build critical thinking and strong, contemporary communication skills in our students. We believe that all disciplines achieve these goals with equal rigor and efficacy.
Can I apply to both fellowships?
- Yes, but be sure to read over the description of each fellowship’s call to focus your proposal for each fellowship.
Can I apply if I was a fellow in previous years?
- Yes, you may apply as a former fellow.
When will I receive notice whether I have been accepted into the fellowship?
- Approximately 4-6 weeks after the close of the application period, you will be notified by email.
